Youth Leader Blog

Be The “my” In Your Children’s “space”…

As we continue to venture from city to city on the WJ tour, I am experiencing the awesome opportunities for youth pastors and leaders to be able to share with me their desire to always be on the look-out for the newest and latest resources they can learn and take back to their youth groups and share with their kids. They want to be involved with the kids and to learn more about their lives, so that there can be a deeper connection.

Besides being able to share some different books and audio resources, along with suggesting some insightful Christian websites, I always take the time to make sure that they are aware of the on-going, strong web presence that “MySpace” and “Facebook” holds deeply within the internet communities that our youth are involved in. These are great opportunities to share time with your youth on these sites to really get involved on a deeper level and get a glimpse of what might be really going on in their lives.

While “MySpace” and “Facebook”, along with the internet in general, can be amazing tools to use to further God’s kingdom work here on earth and to study, it can also be the antithesis in where the enemy can attack our children and invade their minds with the sin of this world. That is always something to keep a fresh perspective on!

I would like to share an article that my good friend, Mark Hall of Casting Crowns, wrote in a column for USA Today not long ago. Mark goes on to encourage us to be very involved with our kids on the internet, and to be aware of their activity in places like “MySpace” and “Facebook.”

You can locate the article at: http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2007/10/want-to-underst.html.

I hope this will be yet one more resource that you can use as you help lead your youth group or your own children. Again, the web can be used as a great tool. I’d love to stay involved with you and your youth. You can visit my website at www.tonynolan.org, and I’d love to be your “MySpace” friend at www.myspace.com/tony_nolan.

Go God!

The song is called "a new song" based on Psalm 40 here are the lyrics:
Lyrics:

I will wait for You O Lord
Cause You have filled my heart with joy
You lift me higher and higher
You're my one and only desire

You put a new song in my mouth
A hymn of praise to You
All I wanna do when I wake up
Is spend my day with You
You put a new song in my mouth
A hymn of praise to You
I put my feet on the Rock Lord
I put my trust in You
Sing a new song
Sing a new song

chorus:
I will wait for You O Lord
I will wait for You O Lord
I will wait for You O Lord
I will wait for You O Lord

Cause You have filled my heart with joy
You lift me higher and higher
You're my one and only desire

Many will see You and fear You Lord
Put their trust in You
Many will see You and fear You Lord
Put their trust in You

Sing a new song
Sing a new song
Sing a new song
Sing a new song

I will wait
I will wait for You
